You may know Cathy as a regular performer at many of
Brisbane’s best Greek, Turkish and Indian restaurants since 1999, as well as entertaining crowds at conferences,
parties and special events.
Known for her fun and gregarious nature, Cathy is fond of interacting
with audience members, dancing with zills, cane, sword and veil.
Her interest in Egyptian style dance was peaked by
a holiday in Egypt in 1996, where she saw many star performers and
live musicians. Commencing her Middle Eastern Dance learning with
teachers from the Brisbane Academy of Middle Eastern Dance, for more than eleven years she has studied with visiting artists such as Dr
Mo Gheddawi, Denise Enan, Yousry Sharif and is regular attendee
of workshops by national and international masters of the dance.
A member of Brisbane’s
Academy of Middle Eastern Dance Oasis Dancers since
1999, Cathy has taught belly dance classes for community education courses,
as well as supplementary teaching for Brisbane AMED teachers.
